Strict implementation of Model Code of Conduct in Seraikela

Saraikela: The district administration has adopted a no nonsense attitude regarding the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct immediately on the announcement of Lok Sabha election dates.

The Deputy Commissioner of Saraikela-Kharsawan district Chhavi Ranjan summoned a meeting of officials at the district headquarters and stressed that the Model Code of Conducted with be strictly implemented. He has directed all political parties to vacate all government buildings and remove all related posters within a time span of 72 hours. The DC also said that a C Vigil App had been launched and citizens could report through this application of acts of violation of Model Code of Conduct. The issues thus reported would be resolved within 90 minutes. The government officials have been ordered to ensure strict implementation of the Moral Code of Conduct in the district.

It may be mentioned here that three Lok Sabha constituencies 8- Ranchi, 10 -Singhbhum and 11- Khunti fall under the Saraikela-Kharsawan district jurisdiction. The district will see a two-phased election. Polling will be conducted at Ranchi and Khunti constituencies on May 8 while the battle for the Singhbhum seat will be held on May 12.

As per guidelines set by the Election Commission through the Model Code of Conduct, no person will be eligible to carry cash in excess of Rs 50 thousand at a time and credible reason will have to be provided if the amount is more.

The Saraikela-Kharsawan district will be divided into three constituencies for the Vidhan Sabha elections in the form of 50-Ichagarh, 51-Saraikela and 57-Kharsawan.

As per census of January 30, 2019, the total number of voters are 7,63,327 out of which males account for 3,89,673, females 3,73,637 while the third gender accounts for 17. Physically challenged voters numbering 2,855 will be provided ramps for wheelchairs to enable them to cast their votes.
