Stay on orders to cut power-water connections to illegal constructions in Jamshedpur

Emphasis on cleanliness, quality of works

Jamshedpur, August 6: A meeting was held by Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri to review the works being done in the municipal bodies at district collectorate auditorium.

Special Officer JNAC Sanjay Kumar, executive officer of Mango Municipal Corporation Suresh Yadav, AEs of all the three municipal bodies, City Manager and others were present in the meeting.

In the review of the development schemes implemented in the municipal bodies, the Deputy Commissioner clearly said that if negligence is found in the quality of the schemes, action will be taken against the concerned. Work should be done according to the estimates and government rules.

In cases of violation of building bylaws, the order issued earlier by JNAC to disconnect electricity-water connection has been directed to be postponed for the time being.

The Deputy Commissioner laid special emphasis on cleanliness in the municipal bodies and said that the identity of the city and the people living in the city can be judged by the cleanliness there.

He also appealed to all the citizens to keep the city clean considering it as their social and moral responsibility.

In the meeting, the schemes of urban transport, civic amenities, MLA fund, 15th Finance Commission implemented in the municipal bodies were reviewed.

 In view of the rainy season, cleaning of drains, if any tree is touching the electric wire, taking immediate cognizance, instructions were given to prune the branches, to fell dry trees so that there is no loss of life in heavy rains and mid-storms.

Emphasis was laid on giving special attention to urban afforestation and maximum plantation so that the air quality of the city remains pure.

The District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner said that the contractors should pay the salaries of the outsourcing personnel on time, the officers should ensure that EPF, gratuity or the kind of social security that can be provided to the personnel according to the qualification.

Action was directed against sale of banned  plastic or thermocol.
