State level conference on FLN, NEP, G20 at SDSM School Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 11: S.D.S.M. School for Excellence organized a state-level conference on the theme of ‘Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), NEP (National Education Policy), and G20’ as part of the Janbhagidari events, emphasizing the involvement of all sections of society in education. The conference was held in commemoration of India’s Presidency of G20 and was led by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) under the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The distinguished conference was inaugurated by the esteemed presence of Nirmala Kumari Barelia, District Education Officer, and Nishu Kumari, District Superintendent of Education. The opening ceremony also saw the presence of other eminent dignitaries, including Harbhajan Singh, Awardee Olympian and Senior Vice President of Jharkhand Olympic Association, Lalita Sareen, Educationist & Former Principal, Sucheta Bhuiyan, Head Faculty of Education, Antara Bose, Multimedia Journalist, Ankur Gandotra, Head of TQM, TEEP, Tata Steel, Dr. Urmila Singh, Principal cum DTC (District Training Coordinator), Ramgarh, Dr. Sarita Sinha, Principal cum CC (Cluster Coordinator), Dhanbad, Suraj Sharma, Principal cum CC & DTC, Bokaro, and Dr. Subosree Sarkar, Principal cum President, JSSC.

The conferences aimed to create awareness, promote understanding, and enhance knowledge about G20 and the fundamentals of the National Education Policy (NEP) through activities such as Prashnottari (Quiz) and Painting Competition. Over 500 participants from more than 53 schools across the state took part in the event, accompanied by 45 School Principals and Vice Principals.

The conference commenced with an auspicious Ganesh Vandana performance by the school’s dancing group. It featured panel discussions moderated by the Principal, Moushumi Das, divided into two sessions to accommodate insights from various experts in the field of education. The discussions revolved around the impact of G20 on education, deliberation on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), and experiences of schools related to these topics.

During the panel discussions, Moushumi Das emphasized the crucial role played by civil society in amplifying government initiatives and highlighted the government’s focus on FLN initiatives, particularly NIPUN Bharat. The panel members engaged in a thoughtful exchange, addressing questions related to the roles of government, community, and education experts in strengthening FLN initiatives. The discussions concluded with a collective agreement on prioritizing shared goals to strengthen the foundation of learning, with a focus on holistic child development.

The conference concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony, wherein the Chief Guest, Kunal Sarangi, spokesperson of BJP, Jharkhand, distributed prizes to the deserving participants. The Principal extended her vote of thanks to all attendees, concluding the event on a positive note.
