ST students to keep getting stipend: Amit Kumar

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar on Tuesday said the district administration will not stop giving stipend to those students who have secured admission in technical institutions outside Jharkhand before 2017.

The DC said the state government had announced to stop stipend given to Scheduled Tribe students studying outside Jharkhand with effect from 2017.

Kumar was speaking to a delegation of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leaders who met him to raise stipend issue affecting 750 ST students studying outside the state.

The JMM leaders complained that the stipend of 750 students had been stopped by the state government. They said the students were facing financial crisis.

The DC said no rumour should be spread on the stipend issue as the government was sensitive enough.
