Jamshedpur, April 18:  A one day National Workshop on Cyber Security was organised in Srinath University, Adityapur in association with Srinath College of Education. Dr Govind Mahto, Vice Chancellor of Srinath University felicitated chief guest DSP Cyber Crime Jayshree Kujur and the guests of honour. Shalini Chakraborty, Assistant Professor of the Department of English Shalini Chakraborty was the host at the National workshop.

Chief guest DSP Cyber Crime, Jayshree Kujur gave an indepth view of cyberspace cyber attack and crime and the measures that were being adopted to curb the cyber attacks. “Cyber Crime has now unfortunately become a common occurrence in the present day digital world. The most common forms of cyber attacks have been termed Phishing and Vishing and common citizens are open prey to these forms of attack.”

DSP Jayshree Kujur attributed cyber victimization to the busy and chaotic schedule and lifestyle of modern times. She said, “People randomly click any mail sent to them by any unknown person and then disclose all their  personal details as directed in such mails or messages. This is the Phishing and Vishing cyber attack that can be minimized but only if people take every precaution prior to disclosing any personal information randomly to even unknown persons. Fraudsters disguise themselves as e-commerce professionals and exploit the customers. Online Shopping frauds, OLX Frauds are but only a few such digital crimes that people are being taken for a ride on their own hard earned lucre.”

She observed that too much dependence on internet had increased the rate of cyber crimes in India. “People should develop the habit of reading textbooks rather than using search engines for information where only 75 percent of the queries are available,” she claimed and added, “It is the customers’ greed, impatience and lethargic nature that has led to increase in fraudulent activities.”.

Users often forget to logout their profiles after using the social media applications. These profiles can be attacked by fraudsters as they have access to the activities of the users.”

Harsh A. Raval, Joint Regional Director and Mentor, CyberDojo, Gujarat, enlightened the audience on the cyber world through a power point presentation. He remarked, “The whole world has become digital and cyber crimes are bound to happen. But this crime can be reduced only if human beings use their basic common sense while dealing with any cyber related issue.”

Harsh A Raval briefed the audience about cyber security global market statistics. He averred, “For every challenge, there is a defender and for every defender, there is a remarkable opportunity.”  He made all present aware about the various job opportunities like Security Analyst, Network Security Professionals and other allied fields of pursuit.
