Kharagpur, Aug 24: The Kharagpur Division of Indian Railways conducted a special ticket checking drive today across several mail/express and suburban trains under its jurisdiction. A dedicated team of Commercial Inspectors and Ticket Checking Squad members carried out intensive inspections in trains including 12503, 12504, 12703, 12864, 12074, 12860, 12073, 12859, 12663, and 12841, along with shuttle checks in suburban services.

During the drive, 362 cases of passengers traveling without tickets or with improper tickets were detected. Penalties amounting to Rs 1,96,235 were realized on the spot from offenders.

The Division emphasized that such drives would continue regularly to curb ticketless travel, which not only caused significant revenue loss to Railways but also inconvenienced genuine passengers. Authorities have appealed to all travelers to purchase valid tickets before boarding trains to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey.
