Jamshedpur, Aug 24: An important meeting of the East Singhbhum Central Durga Puja Committee executive was held at Jamshedpur Parishad under the chairmanship of former Land Revenue Minister and Central Committee President, Dulal Bhuiyan, to discuss preparations for Durga Puja 2025.
During the meeting, Bhuiyan emphasized that the committee had been consistently working to resolve issues faced by Puja committees in both urban and rural areas. Last year, a 20-point demand letter was submitted to the district administration, which brought positive results. This year, with the rainy season in mind, the committee will urge the administration to direct corporate companies to repair potholes on roads using slag to ensure smooth movement for devotees. Uninterrupted power supply in rural areas will also remain a top priority.
The senior vice president proposed creating green corridors from main roads to emergency service centers and at entry and exit points of pandals for quick response during emergencies. He further suggested marking red zones in vulnerable areas and ensuring cranes, lighting, and NDRF diving teams were deployed at immersion ghats.
Senior Vice President Ashish Gupta highlighted the poor condition of the Jadugoda UCIL Dam immersion ghat and announced that a formal letter will be sent to the Deputy Commissioner, demanding repairs and the provision of safety measures. He also urged corporate support in supplying food items for smaller rural Puja committees to maintain the festive spirit.
Zila Parishad member Khagen Chandra Mahato stressed that heavy goods vehicles should be completely restricted from entering the city during Puja days and urged all Puja committees to strictly follow district administration guidelines.
In a major decision, social worker Dharmendra Sonkar was unanimously appointed as Executive President of the East Singhbhum Central Durga Puja Committee, with the appointment letter handed over by Dulal Bhuiyan. Meanwhile, Pramod Tiwari was relieved from his post for indiscipline and working against the committee’s interests.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Joint Secretary Rakesh Sahu. Representatives from two subdivisions and 11 blocks contributed to the discussions.
