Sonari police station officers accused of harassment

Jamshedpur: Rupa Devi, a resident of B Block, has accused two police officers of Sonari police station of harassment. Devi told the SSP that her son married Pooja Kumari of Garhabasa in January 2023 and they have a son. On November 8, 2024, she went to her maternal home taking jewellery and clothes without informing anyone.
According to Devi, on January 12, her son Narayan Sahu was summoned by the police in-charge where police officers Amit Choudhary and Jayanti Tirkey behaved indecently and abused them. Devi said, “They forced my son to write on a paper that he will take back his wife. They also made a video questioning me and they forced me to answer with a yes.”
She added,” For the past one week, police officer Amit Choudhary has been threatening me over the phone. When my husband Hem Prasad Sahu, my daughter and son-in-law went to the police station, they pressured my family to force my son and I to present ourselves at the police station or they would send my husband to jail.”
Pooja Kumari had previously filed a written complaint to the women’s Sakchi police station. However, upon investigation, Kumari was found guilty. Hiding this fact, Kumari in conspiracy with Amit Choudhary called Devi to the police station without any prior notice which according to Devi is a violation of Supreme Court’s instructions.
Demanding action against the police officers, Rupa Devi has sent a copy of the complaint to the Director General of Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Human Rights Commission partner, Sahu Samaj’s President Krishna Sahu and Sonari police station in-charge
