Sonari immersed in the colors of Shri Shyam

Jamshedpur: Shri Shyam Mahotsav was celebrated with much fanfare. It was the 17th Shyam Mahotsav organized by Shri Shyam Seva Sangh, Sonari. it was for the first time that Rajasthani Dhamaal was performed along with the Lordís Gajra which had the huge number of devotees swaying with religious fervor.

The program was divided into two stages. The Mahotsav commenced from the Sonari Ram Mandir where the Dhwaja (flag) was worshipped. Gajanand Bhalotia worshipped 351 Dhwajas and Nishans with the priest Vipin Pandey reciting from the Vedic mantras.

At 1 pm, the huge procession of Shyam devotees commenced from the Sonari Ram Mandir and after traversing the main thoroughfares reached the Mahotsav venue at Rocky Maidan near Junior Carmel School. The procession comprised 351 men, women and children who shouted praise of the Lord throughout.

The second phase commenced at 8:30 pm with devotional songs that continued till 2 am after which the Maha Arti was performed and devotees shared the Chhappan Bhog that was offered to Lord Shyam. Earlier at 12:30 am the hosts Nirmala and Omprakash Patwari performed worship of the deity under the supervision of priest Vipin Pandey.

Popular devotional singer duo of Rupam-Shubham and Kumar Dipak from Kolkata and local singer Rohit Gulati had the huge crowd of devotees lost in religious concentration. Another popular local singer Mahavir Agrawal too held the audience captive even through the biting chill.

The success of the Mahotsav was ensured by president of the organization Ashok Diwan, secretary Jitendra Sabu, treasurer Samir Diwn, vice president Amit Agrawal, press-in-charge Shyam Agrawal along with active members Sandip Mittal, Niraj Patwari, Pankaj Agrawal, Ajay Mittal, Manish Agrawal, Arvind Agrawal, Rakesh Agrawal, Vijay Gupta, Rahul Agrawal, Vivek Agrawal and others.
