Seraikela: All public distribution system (PDS) shops of Seraikela-Kharsawan will be subjected to social audit. The social audit fortnight started here from 2nd October onwards. It will continue till 15th October. The initiative has been taken by the Department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Government of India, under the National Food Security Act.
The government has made it mandatory to ensure the participation of Gram Sabha and public representatives in the social audit work.
Speaking during the inauguration of the social audit of PDS shops in the district, district supply officer Anoop Kishore Sharan said the social audit would continue for 15 days.
The executive officer of Nagar Panchayats and all BDOs of the district have been given necessary instructions in this regard, said Sharan.
