Chaibasa : The ivory smugglers have become active once again in West Singhbhum. Smugglers killed a wild elephant by electrocution here. After this, the prized teeth were cut. The incident took place after midnight between Friday and Saturday. District Headquarters Chai Manjhari police station is about 30 km from Basa, in the forest area near Dubila village.
The forest department is shocked by the news of elephant killing. DFO Satyam Kumar from Chaibasa reached the spot to investigate the matter and started the investigation. The Dubila region is bordering Odisha.
Regarding the incident, Saranda DFO Rajneesh Kumar said that elephants are continuously dying in West Singhbhum. it’s a matter of concern. Three days ago, an elephant was killed after being hit by a train in Manoharpur area. And now the gang organized for smuggling has killed the elephant with a disintegrating current. Special Forces are desperately needed to protect elephants and control smugglers.
