Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu said smart people will create a new and smart India in the days to come. She said the people should come forward and join hands with the government to make sure its various development and welfare projects and schemes are implemented in time. She said the hard work of the Central and state governments will soon bear fruits and result in speedy progress of Jharkhand and the nation.
Murmu was speaking as the chief guest at the extended Gram Swaraj Abhiyan camp held at Baharagora Polytechnic College in Baharagora on Saturday. She launched the nutrition campaign at the camp.
Murmu distributed assets worth Rs 40 lakh among the beneficiaries of the various flagship projecs of the Central and state governments. A total of 565 people were given the benefits on the occasion. Besides, 117 pregnant women were given the benefits of Matri Vandana scheme. A camp was also held to inform the beneficiaries about Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Beema Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojana. Free medicines were also distributed among the beneficiaries during the camp.
Earlier, East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar honoured the Governor by giving her a memento. The students of Kasturba Gandhi schools also presented a hand-made memento to Murmu.
The Governor said the girls should not be married off before their coming of age. She said the girls should be allowed to attain education, health and a full understanding of the world. She further said that the people should live smart in order to make the state and the country smart. For this, the people should fully cooperate with the government, she said.
