Jamshedpur, Aug 3: Jharkhand governor Droupadi Murmu Saturday said there is no dearth of talented youths in the rural parts of Jharkhand and that the sky is the limit for them. Despite possessing immense merit, these youths need guidance and timely help for a bright future, she said.
The governor was addressing a gathering during Pratibha Samman Samaroh organized at Town Hall in Chakulia by the former BJP state president and senior party leader Dr Dineshanand Goswami. The function was organized with the view to felicitate successful Matric and Intermediate students of Chakulia and Baharagora.
Praising Goswami, Murmu said such events should be held regularly so that talented youths are put on the right track. She said the BJP leader also helped poor girls of the region which was a commendable job.
The governor said Goswami had approached her and demanded that a degree college be opened in Chakulia. Goswami had said a degree college be opened in each and every block of the state, she said.
Murmu said she would take up the demand with the government and ensure that the degree college is opened in Chakulia as soon as possible. Due to absence of a degree college, the students of the region have to go to far-off places for their studies, she said.
The governor further said Jharkhand might be heading to a drought-like situation and hence the education given to students across the state should also focus on latest agricultural techniques that may help produce crops that can withstand water scarcity.
Addressing the gathering, Goswami said there are 23 high schools and two plus two schools in Chakulia, but not a single degree college. There is only one unaided degree college in the area, he said.
Goswami said the governor should take initiative to gift a degree college to the people of the region.
Special guests of the event were the Ghatsila MLA Laxman Tudu and Padma Shri Jamunta Tudu. They praised Balmuchu for organizing the event and taking up local issues of importance in larger public interest.
Other dignitaries included East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla, SSP Anoop Birtharay and SP Rural Piyush Pandey.
