Ranchi, August 1: Six Jharkhand cricketers have been selected in the East Zone squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy tournament scheduled to begin on August 23. Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan has been named captain of the 15-member team.
This is the first time that such a significant number of players from Jharkhand have made it to the Duleep Trophy squad, marking a major milestone for the state’s cricketing journey. The other players from Jharkhand who have been included in the team are Virat Singh, Manishi, Kumar Kushagra, Sharandeep Singh, and Kumar Utkarsh.
Adding to the state’s representation, Ratan Kumar from Jharkhand will serve as the coach of the team. The squad was finalized on Friday under the supervision of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA). JSCA convenor Saurabh Tiwary was also present during the selection process.
JSCA President Ajay Nath Shahdeo, Vice President Sanjay Pandey, and other senior officials congratulated the selected players and extended their best wishes for a successful tournament. The strong representation of Jharkhand in both the playing and coaching departments reflects the state’s growing stature in domestic cricket.
