Two Smugglers Arrested with 26 kg Ganja in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The Sitaramdera police seized 26 kilograms of ganja and arrested two smugglers during a targeted raid near the local bus stand. The confiscated contraband carries an estimated market value of approximately ₹3.5 lakh.

Swift Police Action

Acting on a specific tip-off regarding a large consignment intended for transport, a police team led by Sitaramdera officials laid a trap near the bus stand. During the operation, officers intercepted two suspicious individuals. A subsequent search led to the recovery of the 26 kg haul.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Biswajit Biswas

  • Mohd. Tabeez

The Odisha-Bihar-Bengal Connection

During preliminary interrogation, the duo confessed to transporting the narcotics from Odisha. They revealed plans to supply the consignment to various districts across Bihar and West Bengal, using Jamshedpur as a transit point.

Intensified Crackdown

Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Piyush Pandey confirmed the seizure and stated that the police suspect the involvement of an organized trafficking syndicate.

“We are currently interrogating the accused to trace the source of the drugs in Odisha and identify other members of this network,” SSP Pandey said. He reiterated that the district police will continue their intensified campaign against the illegal drug trade and warned of strict legal action against anyone involved in narcotics trafficking.
