Singhbhum Chamber seeks shops opening on Sundays and extension of business hours

Jamshedpur, Oct 22: Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the oldest and biggest traders outfit of Kolhan has again tweeted to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Jharkhand health and disaster management on permission to open shops even on Sundays and extension of business hours till 10 pm.

Significantly, as part of the Covid restrictions, shops barring those selling essential commodities like foods, vegetables, milk and medicines, are kept closed on Sundays.
Significantly, SCCI is demanding to unlock and extend the business deadline on Sunday in view of the crowd in the markets before Durga Puja, but till now most of the traders are furious as government has not issued guidelines for relaxation in the business hours and opening of establishment on Sundays.

“As we all know festivals like Dhanteras, Diwali, Bhai Dooj, Govardhan Puja, Chhath, etc. are near and people do a lot of shopping in festivals especially on Sunday which are holiday but our shops are closed and the time limit till 8:00 PM to shopkeepers and customers which is causing lot of problem for customers and loss of business for us. Especially sellers of clothes, gold and silver jewellery, paints, electronics goods, cosmetic, footwear, home appliances, etc. shopkeepers are directly affected,” the SCCI have communicated to the chief minister and health minister.

All the shopkeepers get their shops cleaned, painted and painted once a year during Diwali, but in the present situation, Sunday’s lockdown has become a hindrance in this matter as well.

Chamber president Vijay Anand Moonka said that we respect the government and have followed all their guidelines, but in the current situation, the way people are crowded in the market, it is very important to allow opening of shops on Sundays and extend the business deadline.
