Jamshedpur: Taking up the cause of betterment of railway service in Kolhan Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry has sent a memorandum to the railway minister Suresh Prabhu to draw his attention to several demands.
The chamber which sent the memorandum through registered post stressed the need of augmentation of the railway services for a large population living in Kolhan region.
The charter of demands shot off to the railway ministry includes direct train service from Tatanagar to Jodhpur via Jaipur/Ajmer, commencement of AC superfast train from Tatanagar to Howrah, Tatanagar-Ranchi inter-city express, a new train from Bokaro to Bhilai via Tatanagar, and extension of Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express to Rajasthan.
The Chamber further demanded boarding facility for the passengers in stoppages of Duranto Express en route, plying of Tata-Yaswantpur train (12889-12890) at least four days a week, early completion of Tata-Kandra rail link project, daily service of Sampark Kranti Express and pantry car facility in long-distance trains.
In recent years the Chamber had raised the demand of direct train service from Tatanagar to Rajasthan. But the demand did not find a place in successive railway budget annoucements. The Chamber of Commerce this time put forth suggestions that until a direct train is announced extensions may be given to other trains for Rajasthan.
It insisted that Puri-New Delhi Neelanchal Express, Kolkata-Bikaner Pratap Express, Puri-Jodhpur Express, Sealdah-Udaipur Ananya Express, and Puri Bikaner Express be diverted via Tatanagar up to Jaipur.
Vijay Anand Munka, vice president of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry who sent the memorandum also put forth other demands for announcements in the forthcoming railway budget.
The demands include laying of new railway line from Gurumohsisi to Bangriposhi via Ruksha for better connectivity to Paradip and other cities in Orissa, extension of Howrah-Digha Duranto Express to Tatanagar for four days a week, full rack capacity in Tata-Allepy Express, multi-level parking facility at Tatanagar station and an increase in number of AC coaches in long distance trains.
