Patna: A devastating incident unfolded in Sohagi Rampur area of Gaurichak police station, Patna, Bihar, as a brother and sister met a tragic end when the car they were playing in caught fire after getting auto-locked late at night.
The victims, identified as seven-year-old Rajpal, son of Sanjit Ram, and six-year-old Srishti, daughter of Sanjit’s cousin Sukkan, were playing in the second-hand car that Sanjit had purchased just three months ago. The incident occurred on Monday night, sending shockwaves through the community.
According to reports, Sanjit Ram had parked the car outside his residence, and while he was busy, Rajpal and Srishti entered the vehicle, innocently playing on the back seat. In a sudden and tragic turn of events, the car’s doors auto-locked, leaving the young siblings trapped inside.
As panic ensued, the locked car inexplicably caught fire, leading to a frantic rescue effort by local residents and family members. Despite their courageous attempts to extinguish the flames, the fire intensified, making it challenging to rescue the children promptly.
After a strenuous effort, the fire was finally brought under control, but by then, both Rajpal and Srishti had suffered severe burns. Rushed to the hospital immediately, the young victims were, unfortunately, declared dead by doctors.
