Trains to stop for two minutes at Mahadevshal for pilgrims
Jamshedpur, July 20 : Devotees visiting Shravani Mela this year can look forward to a more comfortable pilgrimage. South Eastern Railway authorities will soon announce mail and express trains ferrying through the Chakradharpur division to be halted at Mahadevshal (West Singhbhum) for two minutes for the devotees to offer prayers.
The train Howrah Titlagarh Ispat Express will halt. The trains included Tata-Patna South Bihar Express, Tata-Alleppy Express, and Puri-Nizamuddin Utkal Express will also halt.
South Eastern Railway will also introduce a special MEMU (passenger) train between Tatanagar and Jasidih to clear the rush of devotees heading for Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar. The eight-coach train will run on all days, except Sundays.
According to officials in Kolkata�s Garden Reach, the headquarters of South Eastern Railway, the train will leave Tatanagar at 1.35pm and reach Jasidih at 9.30pm.
On its return journey, the train will start from Jasidih at 3.25am and reach Tatanagar at 1 pm. The train would halt at Chandil, Barabhum, Purulia, Anara, Madhukunda, Burnpur, Adityapur, Gamharia, Kandra and some other stations between Asansol and Jasidih.
�The idea is to meet the rush of devotees heading for Deoghar,� a SER spokesperson said. He added that they had also decided that all mail and express trains passing through Chakradharpur would halt at Mahadevshal, in West Singhbhum. The arrangement will continue for a month.
Situated on the banks of the picturesque Karo river under Goelkera block, Mahadevshal temple was established in the 19th century by a local landlord.
Former Prime Minister Narsimha Rao had visited the temple in 1995 during his visit to Goelkera block, where he had come to inaugurate a 70-bed hospital at Samij Ashram, about 20 kms away from Mahadevshal. Sources in West Singhbhum district administration informed that over 1.50 lakh visitors and pilgrims visits the popular Mahadevshal temple during the holy month of Shravan last year.
