Jamshedpur, July 20 : A police constable was killed as a mini-truck hit him on Tata-Hata road near Parsudih police station late last night.The mishap victim identified as Pramod Kumar Singh was rushed to Tata Main Hospital where he succumbed to his injury in the wee hours of Friday.
The constable was posted at Jamshedpur Block Office in Parsudih, about half-a-kilo-meter-away from away from the police station and the mishap took place about 200 metres away from the police station while he was coming there.
Singh was walking the stretch between the Jamshedpur Block Office and the Parsudihpolice station. While he was approaching the police station a mini-truck, which was moving toward Jamshedpur hit the constable, causing him to fatally injured.
As soon as the mishap took place, the driver of the mini-truck abandoned the vehicle at that spot and fled. OC, Parsudih police station, Animesh Gupta confirmed about the accidental death of constable Pramod Kumar Singh on duty.
“We are investigating the mishap as per our information the constable was fatally injured on being hit by a speeding mini-truck. The victim was taken to the Tata Main Hospital where he succumbed to his injury,” said Gupta.
The constable who was a resident of Palamu district was on duty of guarding EVMs at the Jamshedpur block office. Meanwhile, SSP Anup Birthray, reached Golmuri police line paid tribute the victim.
