Jamshedpur, Feb 04: South Eastern Railway�s head office has taken cognizance of complaint against three doctors of the Tatanagar Railway Hospital for dereliction of duty and has given them three days� time to reply to the charges leveled against them. Chief Medical Superintendent Dr SK Behra too has been served a similar notice by the HO�s Public Relation Officer Sanjay Ghosh. The doctors who have been served show cause notices include Dr Raju Mahanta, Dr Anup Kumar Mathur and Dr Usha Kumari.
It may be mentioned here that on January 16 last, Tatanagar loco pilot Prabhunath Pandey was admitted to the Railway Hospital with urinary tract infection. In spite of his being in tremendous pain, the doctor on duty did not attend to him. Instead, he was asked to await the arrival of Dr Raju Mahanta. The nurse on duty, in spite of ringing up Dr Mahanta, the medic did not take the call. Dr Mahanta arrived one hour late. In the meantime, seeing the severity of pain Pandey was suffering, his family members shifted him to the Tata Main Hospital.
On January 17, loco pilot Jai Prakash Yadav�s pregnant wife was released from the Railway Hospital with the medical observation that she was OK. But on reaching home, her condition worsened and she had to be admitted to Tata Motors Hospital.
Complaints in this regard were taken up by the Railway Men�s Congress unit convener Sashi Mishra. Mishra met the Railway Hospital�s CMS Dr SK Behra and asked him to ensure prompt and proper treatment of patients or refer them to other hospitals for better treatment. The information was also given to the DRM Chakradharpur Division.
