Premchand–Sharatchand Smriti Samharok concludes at Karim City College

Jamshedpur, January 11: The closing ceremony of the Premchand–Sharatchand Smriti Samharok, jointly organised by PCAI and SPArC, was held with enthusiasm at the auditorium of Karim City College on Sunday. The programme celebrated literature, culture and patriotism, and saw participation from students, artists and social leaders.

The event was anchored by Aporva and Khusbu, who conducted the programme smoothly and kept the audience engaged throughout the evening. The ceremony began with a welcome address by Ajay Roy, who explained the objectives of the Smriti Samharok and underlined the continued relevance of the literary contributions of Premchand and Sharatchand in the present day.

The cultural segment opened with two patriotic songs performed by the winners of the programme, filling the auditorium with a sense of national pride. This was followed by a group song that added to the cultural atmosphere of the evening. A group dance performance by students of D.B.M.S. College of Education received warm applause for its coordination and creativity. The audience was further entertained by two energetic dance performances by Shivam and Shalini, which stood out for their rhythm and expressive presentation.

Several distinguished guests were present at the ceremony, including Bhagwan Singh, Chairman of CGP; social worker Bunty Singh; noted Santhali poetess Joba Murmu; social activist Purbi Ghosh; and Dr B. N. Prashad, Head of the Faculty of Science at Kolhan University. Addressing the gathering, the guests appreciated the initiative and encouraged young people to take an active interest in cultural and literary activities.

A prize distribution ceremony was also held to honour the winners of competitions organised earlier on November 30 and December 21, 2025. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Laxmi Ram Murmu, Chief Organising Secretary of SPArC, who thanked all those involved for making the event successful.
