Jamshedpur, July 11: The Additional District Judge-2, Aabhas Verma, presiding over the case of the murder of Prafull Chandra Mahato and the attempted murder of his son, has issued a show-cause notice against the in-charge of Parsudih police station. The notice comes in response to the in-charge’s alleged negligence in presenting witnesses in court as mandated by orders from the Jharkhand High Court.

The incident, which occurred on April 20, 2022, involved Lalbabu Sardar of Bhumij Tola fatally striking Prafull Chandra Mahato with a stick, and injuring his son following a dispute over land ownership. Prafull Chandra Mahato, a longtime contractor at Tata Motors, had purchased land and built a home where the incident took place.

Despite there being ten witnesses listed in the case, including Sanjay Kumar Mahato, Shankar Karmakar, Raju Sardar, Sanatan Bhumij, Tapan Sardar, Polo Sardar, Parvati Bhumij, Allen Hembram, Vijay Bhumij, and Laxmi Sardar, none have appeared in court to testify.

The court’s order requires the in-charge to personally appear before July 22 and provide a satisfactory explanation for the failure to present witnesses, as per ST number 410/2022 and case number 84/2022 at Parsudih police station.
