Jamshedpur Police crackdown on inter-district robbery gang, recover stolen goods

Jamshedpur, July 11: On July 10, the Jamshedpur Police achieved a substantial breakthrough by dismantling a robbery gang involved in a string of thefts targeting liquor shops across Jamshedpur and neighboring districts. Following a surge in robbery incidents, a dedicated Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under the direction of the Senior Superintendent of Police, tasked with gathering crucial human and technical intelligence.

Acting swiftly on specific intelligence received that day, the Senior Superintendent of Police mobilized a comprehensive operation across all police stations. The information indicated the presence of 6-7 criminals traveling in a Bolero vehicle, reportedly planning a major crime. Near Salbani turn on NH-33, under the jurisdiction of Galudih police station, law enforcement intercepted the vehicle and apprehended four individuals: Mohd. Afzal, Mohd. Raju alias Bijay Munda, Dilip Kalindi, and Ankit Karan. However, three other suspects managed to evade capture under the cover of darkness.

A subsequent search of the intercepted Bolero uncovered damning evidence, including a country-made pistol, live ammunition, a cutter knife, and multiple mobile phones. Following rigorous interrogation, the arrested individuals confessed to their involvement in a series of robberies spanning Jamshedpur, neighbouring districts, and even areas in Odisha.

Among those apprehended were Mohd. Raju alias Bijay Munda, aged 31, with a history of three prior criminal cases, Dilip Kalindi, aged 31, involved in two previous cases, Md. Afzal, aged 27, with a record of three criminal cases, Ankit Karan, aged 21, who had no prior criminal history, Laltu Gorai, approximately 45 years old, with a history of three cases, Khirod Gorai, also around 45 years old, previously involved in two cases, Raj Singh alias Kodu Sardar alias Kaddu, aged 30, with a record of four cases.

In addition to the arrests, the police successfully recovered a substantial cache of stolen goods, including a 0.315 bore country-made pistol with two live bullets, the Bolero vehicle with registration number JH 13B 1204, a red Ford Icon (JH 05Q 9998), a light silver Qualis car (JH 05B 7424), a white Maruti Omni (JH 05BB 0580), 55 boxes of foreign liquor from various brands, several mobile phones, a 3-feet lock cutter scissor, and two 3-feet thick sabals.
