Chaibasa, Nov 17: Chaibasa MLA Dipak Birua observed that the honorarium paid to short term lady teachers of Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ Schools and Jharkhand Girls’ Residential Schools was Rs 5,000 which was far lesser than the monthly earning of MGNREGA workers.

He was referring to a demand letter handed to him by a delegation of lady teachers at Sarnadih on Tuesday mentioning enhancement in their honorarium and making their appointments permanent. He said that he was committed to solve the problems of the teachers of these institutions.

In a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Dipak Birua informed that only two short term appointed teachers were posted unit wise in the Kasturba Gandhi schools and that they taught all subjects to the students in those institutions that had been seeing very good results of the students of these schools including the residential ones in the state. The legislator pointed out in his letter that these lady teachers were not even provided privileges like CL and SL. Birua urged the Chief Minister to consider the case of the short term lady teachers sympathetically and appoint them as permanent and full time teachers and at the same time to enhance their honorariums.
