Ranchi, June 17: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has geared up for the Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha elections.
On Monday former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been made the election in-charge of Jharkhand while BJP’s firebrand leader and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has been made co-in-charge.
BJP national general secretary Arun Singh has issued a release related to organizational appointment and said that national president J P Nadda has appointed state election in-charges and co-in-charges for the upcoming assembly elections.
BJP has also announced election in-charges for Maharashtra, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir along with Jharkhand.
Bhupendra Yadav has been made the state election in-charge of Maharashtra, while Ashwini Vaishnav has been made the state election co-in-charge. Both are Union Ministers.
Dharmendra Pradhan has been appointed in-charge for Haryana assembly elections and former minister cum MP Biplab Kumar Deb has been made co-in-charge.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has been appointed as the state election in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Jharkhand assembly elections are likely to be held in November-December later this year.
In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the BJP suffered a big loss in Jharkhand. Therefore, the party has intensified preparations for the assembly elections in advance.
In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the BJP won only 8 seats, while in the year 2014 and the year 2019 it had won 11-11 seats. This time the BJP did not win any tribal-dominated seat.
There are a total of 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand. Out of these, 28 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes. Nine seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes. Only 44 seats are general seats.
In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP had to face a crushing defeat. It contested on 79 seats and won only 25 seats.
