Jamshedpur, Feb 4: The final day of nominations for the Jharkhand Municipal Elections 2026 witnessed intense political activity across Jamshedpur and adjoining areas, with prominent candidates filing their papers amid strong shows of support. In the last hours of the process, several contenders made their moves, turning the electoral contest more competitive.

In Jugsalai, the nomination of Balbir Kaur for the post of Chairperson of the Jugsalai Municipal Council drew significant attention. Balbir Kaur, wife of noted social worker and influential Sikh leader Sardar Shailendra Singh, filed her nomination amid a massive turnout of supporters. The large presence of the Sikh community on the streets was seen as a display of unity and strength, altering the political equations in the area and making the contest multi-cornered.

Alongside Balbir Kaur, Dolly Mallik and Mushrat Khatoon also filed their nominations for the chairperson’s post. While Mushrat Khatoon is claiming strong support in minority-dominated areas, Dolly Mallik also presented her candidature before the returning officer with visible backing from her supporters. With multiple strong contenders in the fray, the Jugsalai election is expected to witness a keen contest.
