Setback for Naxalite leader Prashant Bose and wife as court rejects bail plea

Ranchi: In a significant legal development, the Jharkhand High Court has dealt a major blow to Politburo member and Naxalite leader Prashant Bose, also known as Kishan Da, along with his wife Sheela Marandi. The court, presided over by the division bench of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Navneet Kumar, rejected the bail plea after completing the hearing of the case.

The couple, arrested in 2021 along with other Maoists, had filed a bail petition, which faced opposition from the government during the proceedings. The court, after careful consideration, declined to provide relief to Prashant Bose and Sheela Marandi, reinforcing their continued judicial custody.

The arrests in 2021 saw the apprehension of Prashant Bose, his wife Sheela Marandi, and additional Maoists. The police recovered incriminating evidence, including a pen drive, Rs 1.51 lakh in cash, and four mobile phones from the accused. The FIR related to the case was registered at the Kandra police station in Seraikela.
Since their arrest, Prashant Bose and his wife have remained in judicial custody, and the legal proceedings continue in connection with the charges against them.
