Joda, Oct 31: With an objective to spread awareness among unorganised workers about the e-Shram initiative of Government of India, an awareness session on ‘E-Shram Card and National Database of Unorganised Workers through e-Shram Portal’ was organised at Tata Steel Joda West Auditorium on Saturday.
The awareness session was conducted by Shakuntala Pattnaik, Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) along with Santosh Sethy, Regional Labour Commissioner, Rourkela and Sishir Sethy, Labour Enforcement Officer. Among others present on the occasion were Rajesh Kumar, Chief (Joda), Tata Steel and Prashanta Kumar Nanda, Head, HRBP, Joda & Khondbond (OMQ Division), Tata Steel and Subhrat Lahiri, Head, HRBP (FAMD), Tata Steel.
More than 50 people working in the unorganized sector participated in the awareness session where the dignitaries informed them regarding various benefits of registration in the e-shram portal. During the awareness session, the participants were also informed regarding the process of registration in the portal. The awareness session was coordinated by the Human Resources Department of Tata Steel.
It may be noted here that E-shram portal was launched in the month of August this year by the Government of India. It is a concrete step towards generating a comprehensive database for unorganized workers from different sectors like construction, apparel manufacturing, fishing, gig and platform work, street vending, domestic work, agriculture and allied, transport sector and so on.
