Seraikela Sadar Hospital doctors successfully carry out face surgery

Seraikela, Feb 9: Doctors Sushmita and Dr Pradip Kumar along with their medical team comprising dental assistant Gautam, oral hygienist Raju, ANM nurses Sister Saraswati and Sister Roberts successfully conducted an intricate surgery on the face and jaws of 44year old a resident of Tolko in Chakradharpur. When Gangamani and her family had given up hope of medical assistance to repair her face and jaws, her husband, Krishna Nayak brought her to Sadar Hospital in Saraikela in the hope of proper treatment and cure.

According to information, Gangamani suffered a fall in her house on January 13 and sustained severe injuries on her head and face including the fracture to her chin bones that had broken into two pieces. Gangamani and her husband, Krishna had made the rounds of several hospitals and nursing homes but the delicate nature of the injuries sustained, made treatment a far cry. The couple gave up hope and resigned to fate.

However, Krishna Nayak brought his wife Gangamani to Saraikela Sadar Hospital on January 27 in a last ditch effort for treatment. After taking details from the Nayak couple, Dr Sushmita and Dr Pradip Kumar resolved to take up the curative process and gave a nod to what the medics felt was a challenging task.

The patient was kept under constant observation. The doctors performed surgery of the chin twice as the chin and jaw bones had been fractured and came apart. The delicate nature of surgery included joining of the fracture through plate arch-wiring method. The treatment bof injuries sustained by Gangamani included those on her nose and head.

The operation was the first of its kind in Saraikela Sadar Hospital. Doctors Sushmita and Pradip Kumar performed the highly delicate and complicated surgery successfully with no distortion in Gangamani’s facial appearance. The patient was discharged from the Hospital. The Nayak couple expressed gratitude to the medical team that reignited hope in their lives.
