Jamshedpur, July 6: Seraikela-Kharsawan has become the first district of Jharkhand to provide environmental clearance to small scale mining.
Four lease holders have been provided environment clearance for small scale mining and they have started the work at the site.
Significantly, in February, the state government constituted District Environment Impact Assessment Authority (DEIAA) and District Level Expert Appraisal Committee (DEAC).
These committees were functional soon after their formation. This is the reason lease holders got the environment clearance for small scale mining from the district level.
District mining officer Sanjay Kumar Sharma said the committees have been organizing meetings regularly.
After the district level expert appraisal committee’s assessment environmental committee gives environmental clearance.
It may be noted that in several districts of Jharkhand district level committee is being formed. ���
