Jamshedpur, July 6: A Loyola School student, Nilabh Sengupta, bagged the solo tabla scholarship competition organized by India’s famous art institution, Kolkata’s ITC Sangeet Research Academy of Sangeet Piyasi.
Sangeet Piyasi is a prominent name in the horizon of Hindustani Classical music and has been providing scholarships to talented and financially constrained students.
Before Nilabh, no other artist from Bihar and Jharkhand has received this honor. Jamshedpur’s Nilabh is first from Jharkhand to receive the solo tabla scholarship from Sangeet Piyasi.
Fifteen-year-old Nilabh Sengupta has been taking solo tabla training for the last nine years from Pandit Pradeep Bhattacharya.
Following his recent success, Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das, Tata Steel managing director TV Narendran, Jusco Managing director Ashish Mathur, principal secretary to CM Sanjay Kumar along with Somen Mahapatro of West Bengal congratulated Nilabh.
Since, its inception in 1992, Sangeet Piyasi has worked relentlessly and tirelessly towards achievement of its aims and objectives and has dedicated itself for the cause of Hindustani Classical music.
