Jamshedpur, March 27 : The South Eastern Railway ( SER) on Wednesday notified cancellation of several trains in view of the ongoing modernisation and safety related work in various railway divisions under it.
A circular issued by Garden Reach, the Kolkata-based headquarters of South Eastern Railway ( SER) said that the 22886 Tatanagar-LTT Antyodaya Express leaving Tatanagar on March 28 and 31 will remain cancelled. Similarly, the 22885 LTT-TatanagarAntyodaya Express will remain cancelled on March 30 and April 2.
The 58111 Tatanagar-Itwari Passenger train will be short-terminated at Jharsuguda railway station between March 28 and 30.The 12870 Howrah-CSMT (Mumbai) Express will also remain cancelled on March 30 while the 12869 CSMT(Mumbai)-Howrah Express will remain cancelled on March 31.
A senior SER official said that another notification was expected in the next couple of days regarding cancellation of some of the long distance and passenger trains in the first week of April due to the ongoing modernisation work.
Tatanagar station director H K Balmuchu said that they got an official circular regarding the railway job. “We are spreading the message for the passengers so that they are aware about the decisions. The block would be undertaken for modernisation work of railway tracks and signalling system,” he added.
“Several steps are being taken to improve speed of the trains. The modernisation work is being carried out to enhance speed of trains which in turn help in improving arrival timing of trains moving in Chakradharpur railway division of South Eastern Railway,” said Sanjay Ghosh, the chief public relations officer of South Eatern Railway.
Tatanagar railway station witnesses a daily traffic of over 90- mail, express and passenger trains which either originate from Tatanagar of go via that station. The daily passenger footfall is close to 60,000.
