Jamshedpur, Aug 28: Due to pre non-interlocking related to the new third line between Rajkharswan and Dangoaposi section of South Eastern Railway’s Chakradharpur division, the South Eastern Railway on Saturday issued notification for cancelling several trains in September.

“ It is our ambitious project and the third line would help in increasing train traffic in Chakradharpur and Kharagpur divisions of the South Eastern Railway. Passengers will benefit from it,” said an official.

As per the circular issued by Garden Reach, headquarters of South Eastern Railway, the 58103 Tatanagar-Barbil Passenger will remain cancelled from September 1 to September 11.

The  08571 Tatanagar-Visakhapatnam Special leaving Tatanagar on September 6 will also remain cancelled. The  58104 Barbil-Tatanagar Passenger leaving Barbil will remain cancelled from September 2 to September 12. The 08572 Visakhapatnam-Tatanagar Special leaving Visakhapatnam on September 5 will remain cancelled.

In a separate circular the South Eastern Railway notified cancellation of 08862 Jharsuguda-Gondia MEMU Special leaving Jharsuguda on August 28 and 29. The 08861 Gondia-Jharsuguda MEMU Special will also remain cancelled from August 28 to August 30.

A spokesperson of South Eastern Railway said that third line development work includes laying of new tracks and installation of signalling systems. The third line project was initiated in 2019 and is expected to complete in 2022.

The Tatanagar railway station is the only A1-category railway station under Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway ( SER). The footfall at the station is gradually on the rise because of the increasing number of trains and also because of the fact that Tatanagar falls on the Howrah-Mumbai main line. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. The station sees a daily traffic of 90 mail, express and passenger trains, besides a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers. But, in view of the pandemic around a dozen trains pass through the station these days. The footfall of passengers has also come down drastically.
