Jamshedpur, Oct 9: Security has been significantly intensified across Jharkhand in view of the ‘Resistance Week’ called by the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) starting Wednesday, and the statewide shutdown (bandh) announced for October 15.
The Jharkhand police has deployed heavy security forces at sensitive locations and along key transportation routes to prevent any possible violence or disruption during this period.
Inspector General (Operations) Michael Raj informed that 12 battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), along with 20 units of the Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) and the India Reserve Battalion (IRB), have been strategically positioned across the state to maintain law and order.
“Ensuring peace and security across the state is our top priority,” Raj said, adding that additional forces have been stationed at government offices, critical roadways, railway networks, and other vulnerable areas to ensure smooth public movement.
Police forces are also on high alert in districts bordering Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal, anticipating possible Maoist activities spilling over from neighboring regions.
In an official statement, the police urged citizens not to believe in rumors and to continue their daily activities without fear.
Police sources highlighted that recent intensified search operations, successful neutralization of wanted Maoists, and multiple surrenders have significantly weakened the Left-Wing Extremists in Jharkhand. According to officials, Maoist presence is now largely confined to certain parts of the Saranda forest and pockets of Latehar and Chatra districts.
The authorities remain vigilant as the ‘Resistance Week’ progresses, ensuring that any attempt to disrupt public life is contained without delay.
