
Jamshedpur, April 21: The Inter-House Chess Tournament 2026 at Tarapore School concluded after two days of intense competition held from April 20 to 21. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 120 students in the initial knockout stage, out of which 56 qualified for the main rounds.
The final stage featured 56 students from both junior and senior sections. The tournament was played over seven rounds following the Swiss system format, ensuring fair and competitive matchups.
Rajanya Raj Suryavanshi of Jade House emerged as the champion with a flawless score of 7 out of 7 points. Karandeep Singh and Eshani Choudhary, both from Garnet House, secured the second and third positions respectively, finishing with 6 points each.
Several other students delivered notable performances. Ashirwad (Jade House) and Adhrija Roy (Garnet House) scored 5.5 points each. Debrup Majumdar, Garv Joseph Tiga, and Moksh Chhabra from Amber House, along with Vihaan Choudhary (Garnet House) and Laxmi Narayan Mahato (Turquoise House), scored 5 points each.
School Principal Ishita Dey congratulated the winners and appreciated all participants for their efforts. She encouraged students to continue improving their skills and explore chess as a career option.
The tournament was conducted in the presence of Games Teacher Kaushal Singh, Activity Head Manish Kumar, and Chief Arbiter IA Chandan Kumar Prasad.
