Jamshedpur, June 14: Tension gripped Makdampur area of Parsudih on Wednesday after the head of an animal was found near a place of worship in the locality early morning.
Sensing possibility of disturbance, police beefed up security in the locality and assured the local residents of taking stringent action against the culprits.
Sources said some people of the locality got enraged after finding the animal head on the premises of the place of worship. A large number of people gathered at the venue and voiced protest against the incident. The residents said it was an attempt by anti-social elements to disrupt peace in the area.
Deputy superintendent of police (law and order) Vimal Kumar and the officer in-charge of Parsudih PS Animesh Gupta rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. Adequate police deployment was made to avert any trouble. Police force was deployed all over the locality.
Gupta said the incident could be the handiwork of some local residents who wanted to create unrest in the locality. �It is too early to comment but our probe is on. We are investigating the case to identify the culprits. We will not allow anyone to disturb peace in the area,� he said.
Later, SSP Anoop T Mathew reached Makdampur and held a meeting with local residents and peace committee members at Parsudih police station.
He assured the residents of arresting the culprits within three days. He said those trying to cause disturbance in the society will be caught and prosecuted.
