All secretariats to be equipped with Internet facility by December 2017: CM

Dumka, Sept. 14: Addressing a Division Level Conference of Women Self Help Groups and praising their strength, Chief Minister Raghubar Das here on Wednesday said that if given proper guidance and opportunity, women can change the fate of the nation.

The CM said that in 17 blocks, 9,000 women SHGs were running and in the days to come, the government will promote more SHGs formation in rural areas. He said that by December 2017, all villages will be connected with Internet.

Referring to the 30 lakh electricity deprived families, the CM said that by 2018, all villages will be supplied with electricity.

He said that women cottage industries will be promoted. Agencies like Jharcraft will play an important role in training the women and the govt. will purchase the things they prepare.

The CM said that without proper education, the target of development could not be achieved. The pace of development has been sped up. He appealed all to keep away from addiction and announced Rs 1 lakh to addiction free village.

He praised Dumka and Pakur DCs for their role in disposing pending cases related to revenue and justice completely and making remarkable contribution in literacy drive respectively.

Greeting the people of the state on Hindi Diwas, the CM said that education should be promoted in mother tongue. A primer will be prepared and books will be published in Santhali and periods will be provisioned for the same in the school curriculum in the entire Santhal Pargana region.

Rural Development Minister Nilkanth Singh Munda said that women will be made economically empowered through SHGs.

Cabinet Minister Louis Marandi appreciated the CM for his vision for development of Santhal Pargana.

Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma said that SHGs develop the women’s social, economic and psychological outlook. She said that a blue print will be prepared to ascertain women’s role in the production of tamarind, lac and silk in Santhal Pargana and promote cottage industries based on them.

Additional Chief Secretary Amit Khare, Principal Secretary NN Sinha also presented their view. A booklet was also released on the work done throughout the year.

Members of Women SHGs presented a memorandum to the CM. As many as 11 SHGs will be given Rs 1 lakh each. One of the SHGs, Shreya, based in Dumka, was given the cheque.

Many ministers, DCs, SPs and other government officials were present on the occasion.
