Jamshedpur, Dec. 21: Commemorating the 132nd Birth Anniversary of great mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, S.D.S.M. School for Excellence observed GANIT (Growing Aptitude in Numerical Innovation and Training) week from (17th � 22nd December, 2018). Different activities were conducted by the mathematics department of the school for different classes. The activities were framed to create interest in the subject among the students and drive out the fear of mathematics.
The event was inaugurated by Principal, Moushumi Das, Vice-Principal, Ragini Singh, Jr. School Co-ordinator, Subject Co-ordinators, faculty of mathematics by paying homage to Srinivasa Ramanujan and planting a tree, which signifies nurturing a life. Speeches were delivered by the students on the importance of Ganit Week Celebration, and the life history of Srinivasa Ramanujan. Activities ranged from decoration of bulletin boards, documentary screening on the life of Ramanujan, Mathematics quiz for Class VI-VIII to the narration of interesting facts.
The celebration concluded with poetry recitation, display of Indian place value system by 32 students from Std.VI to VIII, to make Mathematics learning with fun, a speech to pay tribute to the great Mathematician.
Principal, Moushumi Das felicitated the prize winners. The event was well organized under the guidance of Maths Co-ordinator, Aparna Roy, who organized activities to help to reduce the fear of learning mathematics and learn innovative measures to keep the interest alive. The Vice-Principal, Ragini Singh, Jr. School Co-ordinator, Sanghamitra Mohanty, as well as all Subject
Co-ordinators, encouraged the students through their involvement in various activities.
