School kids cast vote for toilet at ‘Swachhata Matdaan’

Jamshedpur: Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC) launched the Swachhata Matdaan campaign in Mango on Tuesday. On this occasion, 165 students of Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi Middle School participated in voting for cleanliness, a unique campaign started by the MNAC to promote cleanliness in Mango and conduct a survey to find out as to how many households have toilets and how many of them are using them. The ballot papers provided to the young voters had four options printed on them.
Kumar said there are more than 300 students in the school, out of whom 158 voted for first option indicating the presence of toilets in their houses. Seven children chose option four whch meant there was no toilet in their houses.
MNAC authorities will be taking measures to construct toilets in households where the members still go outside for defecation.
