Jamshedpur, June 15: Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) today urged the district administration to come out with a concrete plan against the street vendors in Sakchi and demanded 60 days time against the ban on polythene bag. They also highlighted various issues in concerned with the city traders.

In a letter to the East Singhbhum DC Amit Kumar, SCCI general secretary, Vijay Anand Moonka stated that the encroachment inside Sakchi Market by the street vendors who are sitting on the road causes great inconvenience to public in general, permanent shop keepers, etc. Due to encroachment by street vendors snatching of gold chains, purse, mobile, teasing had become a daily task.

Moonka said, all the three Notified Area committees i.e JNAC, MNAC and Jugsalai municipality are working in a different manner when it comes to polythene/plastic and no standard procedure is being followed.

Materials coming from other states, (Where plastic is not banned), are packed in plastic bags / wrapping to ensure safely delivery and protection from rain but the district administration officials comes and imposes fine. He further said that no standard procedure is being followed on imposing fine on polythene carry bags as concern officials impose fine as per their wishes and mood irrespective of quantity of polythene. Most of the times behaviour of fine imposing official is very harsh and unrespectful towards the businessmen.

Till date there is no proper / sufficient alternative to polythene carry bag. Moonka requested for at least 60 days time and also the government should flow the alternatives in market in sufficient and proper quantity.

Talking about removing of encroachments, SCCI general secretary, said, ‘few days back encroachment from permanent shops were removed from Mango and Jugsalai area but no standard procedure was followed. Different officers were working in a different manner on the same subject. We request you to kindly advise the concerned officers to give marking before removing of encroachment’.

The trade body also demanded parking area in Jugsalai. ‘ There is no designated parking in Jugsalai, as requested earlier kindly make sufficient parking space in Jugsalai near railway crossing where encroachment was removed year ago’, Moonka said.

SCCI also advised the administration to use thermal printer or electronic machine during helmet checking for time saving as the traffic police issues manual money receipt which takes lot of time and people have to wait a lot.

Moonka also demanded clarity on one rupee small coin as there is confusion in the market that the above mentioned coin is not acceptable. Vijay Anand Moonka said that still there is regular shortage of Rs. 5,10,20,50,100 stamp papers and urged DC do the needful on the above at an earliest
