SCCI: Seminar highlights Biochar technology for carbon emission reduction

Jamshedpur, Jan 10: A seminar on “Innovative Technology of Biochar (Organic Coal) and Its Role in Carbon Emissions” was held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Chamber Bhawan under the aegis of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). Tata Steel Vice President (Safety, Health, and Sustainability) Rajiv Mangal delivered the keynote address. The event aimed to educate the industrial and business community about biochar technology’s environmental and commercial potential in reducing carbon emissions.

Mr. Rajiv Mangal, an expert in sustainability, provided an in-depth explanation of biochar technology. He highlighted how biochar, derived from organic waste, not only helps reduce carbon emissions but also improves soil fertility and promotes agricultural productivity. He emphasized that biochar technology represents a blend of environmental sustainability and industrial innovation, offering a pathway for industries to significantly reduce their carbon footprint. His suggestions encouraged practical implementation of biochar technology in the industrial sector to achieve sustainable growth.

Singhbhum Chamber President Vijay Anand Moonka, while welcoming the chief guest and attendees, underlined the importance of such seminars. He stated that adopting new technologies like biochar is crucial for businesses to remain relevant and sustainable in today’s world. Moonka called the seminar a potential milestone in reducing carbon emissions and fostering environmental conservation.

The seminar also featured Vice President of Industry Puneet Kanwatia, who outlined the commercial benefits of biochar technology, inspiring attendees to consider it for their enterprises. Honorary General Secretary Manav Kedia concluded the program with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the valuable insights shared by Mr. Mangal and expressing gratitude to the entrepreneurs for their enthusiastic participation.

Prominent attendees included Vice President Anil Modi, Advocate Rajiv Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal Goldy, Treasurer CA Anil Ringasia, and several other notable entrepreneurs and business leaders from the region. Their presence underscored the industrial sector’s growing interest in sustainable practices.
