Jamshedpur, February 12: A delegation of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) met Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA) Managing Director Varun Ranjan, IAS, at his Ranchi office to discuss pressing infrastructure, policy and development-related concerns affecting industries and MSME units in the Adityapur Industrial Area and the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster.
The delegation was led by SCCI President Manav Kedia and included General Secretary Puneet Kauntia, Vice-President (Industry) Harsh Bakhrewal, Vice-President (Tax & Finance) Rajeev Agarwal and Industry Secretary Vinod Sharma. The Chamber submitted a detailed memorandum supported by photographs and video evidence, highlighting operational, infrastructural, administrative and strategic challenges faced by industrial units in the region.
Among the key concerns raised were the severely damaged internal roads, failure to restore roads after pipeline and cable-laying works, and a clogged drainage system leading to frequent waterlogging, which has reportedly caused damage to machinery and raw materials. The delegation also flagged non-functional streetlights, overgrown vegetation and the urgent need for comprehensive maintenance and cleanliness drives across the industrial area.
Security issues were also discussed, particularly the rising incidents of theft in the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster.
The trade body demanded enhanced police patrolling, installation of CCTV cameras and strengthened security arrangements.
Additionally, SCCI objected to the levy of holding tax by the Adityapur Municipal Corporation despite industries already paying lease rent to JIADA.
On administrative and procedural matters, the delegation highlighted practical difficulties faced by older industries in furnishing the Date of Production (DoP) and sought the removal of processing fees for minor amendments and record corrections.
The trade body delegation also put forward several forward-looking policy suggestions, including the creation of dedicated parking facilities for heavy vehicles, streamlining and effective implementation of the single-window clearance system, optimal utilisation of unused land in the Electronic Cluster, and activation of the Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation.
It further proposed the development of a new industrial park near Jamshedpur, rationalisation of land rates, provision of affordable and competitive power supply, establishment of an MSME Facilitation Centre in Jamshedpur, and efforts to attract mega industries to boost ancillary units.
Responding positively, the JIADA Managing Director assured the delegation of prompt action.
He informed that road repair works would commence from mid-April and directed the Regional Director to immediately undertake de-silting and cleaning of the drainage system. Other issues, he said, would be addressed on priority in coordination with the concerned departments.
The delegation appreciated the MD’s constructive and cooperative approach and expressed confidence that the proposed measures would significantly improve infrastructure and ease of doing business in the industrial area.
The SCCI delegation reaffirmed its commitment to working in close coordination with the state government and JIADA to accelerate industrial growth and strengthen the MSME ecosystem in the region.
