Jamshedpur: The Savarna Mahasangh Foundation India on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court’s reported interim stay on the UGC Equity Regulation Act, 2026, and described the development as a victory for Sanatan Dharma and nationalist forces.

Addressing the media in Jamshedpur, D. D. Tripathi, National President of the foundation, said a bench led by Justice Surya Kant had halted what he called an attempt to divide society and weaken traditional cultural values.
Tripathi alleged that the proposed regulation sought to create social divisions and target a particular section of society. He said members of the Savarna community and nationalist Sanatan groups had united in opposition to the legislation and welcomed the court’s reported decision to stay its implementation.
According to Tripathi, the Supreme Court’s interim order ensures that the earlier legal framework introduced in 2012 will remain in force until further proceedings in the matter.
Tripathi said justice should rest on constitutional principles and equality and that no law should unfairly target any community or social group.
Reiterating his support for equal justice for all sections of society, he said the law must protect anyone facing exploitation or injustice. At the same time, he asserted that legislation should not divide communities or promote hostility.
