Jamshedpur, May 25: Jamshedpur East constituency legislator, Saryu Roy inspected several banks along Rivers Kharkai and Swarnrekha between Bodhanwala Ghat in Bistupur and their confluence, Domuhani in Sonari on Thursday.
Apart from the carpet of water hyacinths spread across the two rivers, Saryu Roy noted that especially the Kharkai River had turned into an intake point of drains whose waste water with chemical and other harmful elements flowed into it and polluted the water that had turned blackish and odorous. He observed the same condition of hyacinth growth in the Swarnrekha waters at the confluence point in Sonari.
Saryu Roy will discuss these factors of consternation with the citizens, intellectuals and various social and voluntary organizations at a meeting to be convened on Sunday, May 28 at 10:30 am in Parmahans Lakshmi Nath Goswami Temple in Bistupur. A decision will be taken during the meeting on de-polluting the Kharkai and Swarnrekha Rivers within a year.
Among those who accompanied MLA Saryu Roy during the inspection of the Kharkai and Swarnrekha river banks between Bodhanwala Ghat and Domuhani included Mukul Mishra, Suranjan Roy, Rakesh Singh, Tileshwar Prajapati, Sheshnath Pathak, Chunnu Bhumij, Atul Singh and Uttam Das.
