Jamshedpur: Neetu Dubey’s free sketching classes for underprivileged children

Jamshedpur, May 25: Hue Wings Art Center owner and herself a popular artist, Neetu Dubey has undertaken to reach out to underprivileged children with an artistic bent of time, and teach them free sketching and painting. Space constraints and other infrastructure issues are preventing her from taking regular classes for such children and thus she is doing the next best thing that of taking up groups in locality-wise manner.

As a part of this ambitious project, Neetu took up 20 children at Mochi Basti in Zone – 8 of Birsanagar and taught them to draw a sketch of Devi Saraswati, the Goddess of learning. She taught them the easiest process of making the sketch of the deity and within an hour, the 20 budding artists from financially weak families had mastered the art of sketching the Devi. Neetu said that her initial intention was to make the children spend their summer vacation time fruitfully and thus she would be visiting different areas of the city to teach such children to draw and paint. The camp at Birsanagar Zone -8 was organized by Mahila Vikas Samiti. Hue Wings Art Centre’s Neetu Dubey stated, “I am aware that there are many children in the city who are desirous of expressing their thoughts and concepts through painting but due to lack of financial resources or paucity of time, they are unable to take proper training. Many children have approached me to teach them sketching and painting. I hit upon the idea of teaching sketching and painting to underprivileged children in a locality-wise manner at places that would be convenient for these children. However, due to limited resources, everyone cannot be reached out to. Yet, plans are afoot to organize a mega camp in the near future.”
