Jamshedpur, June 12: MLA Saryu Roy has urged the Deputy Commissioner to convene a meeting with officials of Tata Steel UISL and JNAC to assess the progress of development work within and outside Tata Lease under the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee. The aim is to expedite pending development plans.

Expressing concern over the lack of coordination between the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) and Tata Steel Utility and Infrastructure Services Ltd (TSUISL), Roy emphasized the need for synchronized efforts to enhance essential services like water supply, electricity, and sanitation. He highlighted delays in cleaning major drainage systems and strengthening household drains, leading to waterlogging issues during monsoons.

Moreover, several projects funded by the 15th Finance Commission and District Plan remain stagnant, including the Moharda drinking water supply project and riverfront development. Despite multiple announcements, no progress had been made on constructing sewage treatment plants to purify drain water before it reached the river.

Saryu Roy also voiced apprehension about the deteriorating law and order situation, attributing it partly to encroachments in residential and Tata lease areas. He called for a comprehensive review of municipal decisions related to urban administration and law enforcement to ensure residents’ safety and security.

The meeting aims to address these pressing concerns and expedite developmental projects for the betterment of Jamshedpur’s residents.
