Major political figures, Himanta and Sudesh, confirm attendance
Fear and corruption will end: Saryu Roy
Jamshedpur, Oct 23: Saryu Roy, the NDA’s Janata Dal United (JDU) candidate for the Jamshedpur West Assembly, is set to file his nomination today, October 24, at 11 am. Speaking at a press conference held at his office in Bistupur on October 23, Roy highlighted critical local issues, including the lack of drinking water supply in several areas of Jamshedpur West, particularly in Tata Steel UISL (formerly JUSCO) and Uliyan.
Roy stated, “The condition of the Mango drinking water project, which was supposed to improve five years ago, remains unchanged. Complaints regarding electricity, water, and cleanliness are rampant. We cannot continue like this.” He expressed his commitment to resolving these issues, having toured the area for the past three days to gather feedback from residents.

Addressing the atmosphere of fear in West Jamshedpur, Roy remarked, “People have been living in terror for the last five years. I assured them that if such fear persists, we will retaliate and show those who create it their place.” He emphasized the need for accountability, stating, “The days of sending people to jail for every minor issue are over. If anyone tries to do this, they will face proper consequences.”
During the press conference, Roy announced that Sanjeev Acharya, who initially planned to contest the elections as an independent candidate, will now support him. “I requested Sanjeev to join me, and he has graciously agreed not to run,” Roy shared, with Acharya and social worker Dharmendra Tiwari by his side.
Roy’s nomination ceremony is expected to attract several prominent political figures, including Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP’s Jharkhand State Co-Election In-charge, and Bihar ministers Ashok Chaudhary, Shravan Kumar, and Madan Sahni. Other attendees will include former minister Shyam Rajak, and representatives from the LJP and AJSU.
Reassuring his supporters, Roy mentioned, “I have already held meetings with the workers and senior officials of six BJP mandals: Sonari, Kadma, Bistupur, Sakchi, Mango, and Ulidih. The BJP is fully behind me as an organization, and there should be no doubt about this.” He also indicated that Chhattisgarh MLA Bhavna Bohra has been actively participating in meetings, underscoring the NDA’s united front.
In response to ongoing irregularities, Roy expressed concern over blocked roads and unauthorized constructions. “Two roads have been blocked, and movement has been stopped. This is unacceptable,” he stated. He called for greater transparency from the local administration regarding construction activities, questioning how such work is being conducted amidst the election code of conduct.
Roy concluded by urging the Jamshedpur district administration to implement the provisions of the code of conduct impartially, stating, “The administration has never been in such a bad state before. It is time for them to act responsibly.” He further mentioned that he has informed the SSP about individuals who are allegedly politicizing their situations while incarcerated, advocating for fair governance.
