Jamshedpur, July 6: State food and civil supplies minister Saryu Roy Saturday asked the Jharkhand government to take urgent steps to improve power supply in non-company areas of Jamshedpur. He said the procedure being resorted to by the government to acquire electricity from Jusco would take much time. He also expressed apprehensions that the process would be marred by legal hassles.
In a press statement issued today, Roy said he had advised the state Energy Secretary to request the state government to issue no objection certificate (NOC) to Jusco or anyone who wants Jusco power. This would solve the power crisis, he said.
Roy suggested that the state government should enter an agreement with Jusco for adequate power supply to all households. Jusco should be permitted to use and repair DVC transfer line to transmit electricity. If the government wishes, it can either rent out its line transformers or freely give the same to Jusco for this purpose, said the minister.
