Jamshedpur: Saryu Roy, the Jamshedpur West MLA, has been conferred with the prestigious National Ambedkar Award for the year 2024. The award was presented to him on Saturday at his residence in Bistupur by Anil Bansfor, the President and Chief Instructor of the Ambedkar School of Martial Arts.
The National Ambedkar Award, instituted by the Bahujan Sahitya Academy, recognizes individuals for their significant contributions to society. Anil Bansfor, who is also the Jharkhand State President of the Academy, highlighted the reasons for the honor. “Saryu Roy has been acknowledged for his tireless efforts in uplifting the poor, backward classes, Dalits, and the marginalized in Jharkhand. His unwavering commitment to social justice has earned him this award,” Bansfor said.
The award was originally announced during the Academy’s National Convention held on December 15, 2024, at Andhra Bhavan, Delhi. As Roy could not attend the event, the award was handed over at his office.
Expressing his gratitude, Bansfor recalled how Roy’s inspiration and assistance helped him pursue his passion for martial arts. “I was able to travel to Hong Kong for martial arts because of his support. He has been a true guide and motivator for many like me,” he added
